Anniversary Trip to Sonoma
We took Mom and Dad up to Sonoma to burn some Marriott points at the Sonoma Lodge in celebration of their anniversary. The first stop was Benziger Winery, where we had a quick picnic before the rain started.
We took a brief stroll down the Biodynamic Discovery Trail before heading out, where you can take a self-guided tour to learn about Benziger's sustainable agricultural system. We saw the birds and the bees and the flowers.
The roses were out in full force at the Lodge. The aroma emanating from the large, orange ones was glorious.
We spent a nice afternoon cozied up in front of the fire in the lobby lounge.
Then, we headed out for an anniversary dinner at Saddles Steakhouse.
(Cool grease spot from the parking lot.)
The restaurant was full of cheesy decor, with an over abundance of saddles and boots and paintings of horses, so I did not know what to expect. However, the food was delicious and we all had fabulous meals along with a scrumptious dessert to share.
The next day was a complete washout due to a torrential downpour, so we headed back to the city early, only to be greeted by beautiful sun and a rainbow. Go figure!

Sonoma is soooo beautiful! (And they have the BEST grease spots.) :-) Happy anniversary to your parents!
