Happy Year of the Dragon

This year is the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese zodiac. I only know this because I live in San Francisco with it's vibrant Chinese community. Tom happens to be a Dragon, so we hope to enjoy some good luck this year. Last Saturday was a nice day in the city, so we decided to take a walk over to check out the Chinese New Year Parade.

We headed over Telegraph Hill

and saw some pretty scenery.

Along the way, we ran into some Segway'ers

and a Dixieland jazz band.

We finally made our way down into Chinatown.

There, we saw lots of dragons and lions.

I didn't get many good shots of the parade, but here are a few of a really cool dragon. It was over 50 feet long and illuminated inside. At least 20 people were running around underneath it, twisting, turning and manipulating it. The photos don't do it close to justice, so you'll have to use your imagination.

We topped off the night at Fisherman's Wharf with some crab from Scoma's. Delicious as always!
